Children, Play & Learning

At our nursery, play is at the heart of learning. Children explore, imagine and make sense of the world around them through hands-on experiences that support their development across all areas of the EYFS. This is some of the ways we access all areas:

Communication and Language – story time, songs, role play, conversations

Physical Development – Outdoor play, climbing, dancing, fine motor activities like threading and drawing

Personal, Social and Emotional Development – Group acitivites, sharing, turn-taking games, emotional literacy work

Literacy – Reading corners, phonics play, mark- making with various materials

Mathematics – Counting games, shape sorting, building with blocks, measuring in water play

Understanding the World – Exploring nature, seasonal activities, sensory play, cultural celebrations

Expressive arts and design – Painting, music sessions, junk modelling, imaginative play.

We explore Adult-Led activities through carefully planned sessions to help introduce new concepts and provide guidance in key skills areas, these are always delivered in a fun and engaging way. We explore child-led activities, we follow the children’s interests and allow them to lead in their own learning, which keeps them motivated and engaged. We observe your child regularly to understand their development, interests and needs. This helps us plan meaningful activities tailored to their next steps! Children’s achievements are celebrated daily and shared with parents through their memory books and regular updates.
